Max Lewis is a philosopher and Lecturer in Ethics, Politics, & Economics at Yale University. His main research interests are in moral psychology, normative ethics, metaethics, environmental ethics, and epistemology. His current research projects concern the nature of debts of gratitude, the nature of gratitude and resentment, relational morality, and epistemic conditions on praise and blame.

He is currently co-editing (with Antti Kauppinen) an edited collection on the moral psychology of resentment for Rowman & Littlefield’s series The Moral Psychology of Emotions. His work has appeared in Analysis, Philosophical Studies, Philosophical Issues, Canadian Journal of Philosophy, Erkenntnis, Synthese, Journal of Ethics and Social Philosophy, Journal of Applied Philosophy, and Ethical Theory & Moral Practice.

He received his Ph.D. in Philosophy from the University of Pennsylvania in 2020, a master’s in philosophy from Brandeis University, and a master’s from Harvard Divinity School.
