Dr. Michael A. Fotos, III, BA, MPA, Ph.D. is the Director of Undergraduate Studies for Environmental Studies and Lecturer in Political Science. He was previously on the faculty of the graduate public policy program at Trinity College in Hartford CT.

His teaching and research aim at providing greater understanding of the applications of political theory to institutional design, constitutional choice, and policy analysis. Earlier work focused on coal mining regulation, voter turnout, and ecosystem services.

Dr. Fotos was born and raised in Huntington, West Virginia and presently lives in West Hartford, Connecticut. He is a 1978 graduate of Yale College and a Fellow of Berkeley College. Dr. Fotos is a founding faculty volunteer and presently serves on the board of the Warrior-Scholar Project, a national non-profit founded at Yale whose mission is to provide enlisted veterans with the skills and confidence needed to succeed in college.
